Is e-Learning effective?

e-learning is widely offered as part of training in the modern office but is it an effective method of learning?

Organisations that use e-learning claim that where on average it is made available to 60% of employees only half of them take it up. Of that on average only 30% are reported as completing courses.* Theses stats present some very interesting results when you consider how easy it is now a days to access the internet as a source of communication and information.

Almost all organisations agree e-learning is more effective when combined with other forms of learning, causing one to think that older methods of learning will always be around.

However, e-learning is here to stay whether we like it or not and can greatly help those who wish to learn but cannot access schools or colleges and universities, even libraries, to study and gain further advancement in education with the goal of achieving a better job.

What has to happen is for e-learning to be more widely recognised by education body’s and hence the quality of qualification needs to be worthwhile. Organisations who are not succeeding in integrating e-learning into support activities must remember that technology is there to support people management and development strategies, not replace them.
